Biography
I am a student in the doctoral program in English. I am interested in Literature of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In particular, I am curious about the machinations of courtly and devotional poetry in this period, and the social, emotional and sexual economies of these texts. I am interested in the sonnet as a form, especially in sequences by Sidney and Shakespeare. I am also intrigued by the figuring of individual subjectivity in relation to the Divine in poets such as Herbert and Donne. I find Psychoanalysis a productive handle in my readings. Beyond the Renaissance, I am fascinated by a range of poets from GM Hopkins to Anne Sexton.
