Biography
My research is focused on the inadvertent queerness to be found in medieval and early modern poetry and drama, emerging from authorial interest in adhering to or endorsing the religious and secular cultures of their periods. Simultaneously, I study ways in which contemporary authors, adapters, and fans recognize and extract that queerness to create literary sites for modern day affirmation and community building. I am interested in examining abjection, transgression, and alterity in medieval and early modern literature as queer potentialities, realized today through the lenses of queer theory and adaptation studies.
