Casey Shearer Memorial Lecture

The Casey Shearer Memorial Lecture, sponsored by Brown University and the Goldway/Shearer Family, was established in memory of Casey Shearer '00, a promising young writer and aspiring sportscaster who died in May 2000, days before he was to graduate Brown.

Prior to the lecture, the winners of the annual Casey Shearer Memorial Award for Excellence in Creative Nonfiction are announced.

Casey Shearer Memorial Award for Excellence in Creative Nonfiction

The Casey Shearer Memorial Award is awarded to a full-time Brown junior or senior for creative nonfiction of 3,000 words or less. For more information, visit department prizes.
